Review: As I Am CoWash Cleansing Conditioner

As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner - 16 Ounces

I recently purchased the As I Am Cowash from Walmart a couple of weeks ago. During one of my wash day session I decided to use the product to see if my hair would feel any different from a regular wash and condition set. My thoughts are the product are as follows:

1. Product has a great smell.
2. Product is a great detangler because it provides a lot of slip
3. Product is an okay to use in between "major" wash days with actual shampoo. (meaning if you need a quick wash and you do not have a lot of build up of product on your hair and scalp then this is great product to use to help eliminate using a sulfate shampoo)
4. Hair retains a lot of moisture which makes your hair very soft to the touch.

Now this is my opinion if you do have a lot of build up of product on your hair and scalp then the As I Am CoWash is not the product that will help "clean" your hair. In fact any conditioner you decide to use as a co-wash will not "clean" your hair and scalp. Conditions were made to add moisture back into the hair not clean it like a shampoo. If you are looking to stay away from shampoos, or go a long period of time before washing your hair with a shampoo then it is best to get/use a natural product that will clean the scalp with harming the cuticles. The most common recipe out there is for the Apple Cider Vinegar mix. Remember a clean scalp with promote hair growth. Dirty clog pores are not good for healthy hair growth ladies. So please keep that in mind when it comes to Co-washing your hair.

Sorry about getting off subject everyone. In the end I would recommend this product to all of my naturalistas. Plus it is very affordable, a 16 oz. jar will run you between $6-8 bucks depending on where you go to pick it up. So check it out ladies and gentleman.

All Virgin Hair Boutique Review

This is long over due. But this is my review for the All Virgin Hair Boutique. Overall this was good quality hair for the price. Very affordable, hair was true to length and minimum shedding.
Specs:
Brazilian Body Wave
2- 24" inches
1-22" inch
1-20- inch
2- 18" inches

This was a full closure sew-in and I wore it for about a month and a half. The reason why I  used so many bundles is because the longer the length the less hair you get so with a full closure I needed more hair to get a more full look. I did not use all of the 2 bundles of 18". So technically I used like 5 1/2 bundles. If you are leaving some of your own hair out or even using a closure I believe 3-4 bundles will give you a nice full look. If you guys have any further questions please do not hesitate to shoot me an email at:

More Protective Styling- Bun Life

Okay after watching plenty of YouTube videos I have decided to do a faux-bun using the Marley Braid hair. I think that this is a quick and easy protective style that literally takes 5 mins to achieve. When you are natural protective styling is key in order to retain length. The more your hair is exposed to the elements the more end knots and breakage you could encounter. So ladies protect those ends!! :-)

If you guys would like to see a video on how I achieved this look please let me know and I will do a tutorial. *hint* I used the Natural Sistas method on bunning my real hair underneath.

Beyonce's New Cut Yay or Nay??

So I have been hearing the buzz about my girl Beyonce and her new short pixie cut. I am all for change and I personally think the cut looks good on her whether it is a wig, weave, or her natural hair. I just wish people would stop comparing her to other stars such as Rhianna...I do not think she is trying to be like anybody else besides herself and there is no crime against someone changing up their style. But you guys tell me what do you think of the new do...yay or nay??

Protective Styling Challenge

Hey guys!

I have decided to go on a protective style challenge for at least the next 6 months. I have realized that on my natural hair journey for healthy hair protective styling is a must. From just my personal experience I am realizing that protective styling helps my hair thrive and grow. Keeping my hair exposed to the elements only caused my hair to break and have split ends. So I have decided to get back on my protective style kick...when I first transitioned into being a #curlgirl that is all I wore were full sew-ins not leaving any hair out at all. I would simply take down one sew-in, wash and deep condition my hair and hurry up and get another one put in. My hair definitely grew a lot from that process, but once I started wearing my "natural" hair out in twist outs and other styles where my ends were not covered I noticed a difference in the state of my hair. I started giving myself more hot oil treatments and it worked a little bit but I still was not seeing the results I wanted to see. So that is what lead me to go back to the beginning of my hair journey; back to the basics and what I know works for me. My first month and half I decided to wear box braids or what some people are calling poetic justice braids and they are doing great! It is an easy protective style to keep up with and low maintenance. I have pics posted below and I think once I take these down I get another full sew-in just in time for my birthday! lol Oh and I promise to start posting my updates on this blog.

2nd Look at the Genesis Virgin Brazilian Wavy Hair

Hey Guys!

I know it has been a minute since my last post but I am back with my 2nd look at the Genesis Virgin Hair. Again the specs are on this hair are as follows: (1) 18" (1) 22" and (1) 24", the hair comes in a natural brown color. My hair is installed as full sew in meaning I have none of my "natural" hair left out. And so far the hair has stood up for this 2nd go round. I have experienced light shedding and tangling which I think is awesome. I know some people have not had such a great experience with this hair but all I can say is either they did not how to take care of the hair or maybe they received a bad batch. But for the price you will pay for this hair I have no complaints. I will be posting a video on YouTube to follow this post soon. I wanted to wait till I reached my month mark before producing another video and that month has passed so be expecting a video to be posted soon.

Now the reason why I decided to re-install my Genesis Virgin hair was because I got sick of working with natural hair and just needed a break from it for a while. I thought to myself a full closure sew in would be perfect to protect my real hair and at the same time give me a chance to  revisit the Genesis Virgin Hair. And after a month I think I made the right choice. My natural hair is protected underneath which is a great thing, I have been using coconut and grapeseed oil to moisturize my scalp during this time. But a month is a long time for me to go without washing or co-washing my hair so I will taking down this sew in really soon. If it still holds up I might re-install it again. Right now my goal is make sure my natural hair stays healthy so I am going to be rocking a lot of protective styles to make sure that happens. From full sew-ins to mini twist I will be rocking them all this spring and summer so please be on the lookout for more post in the near future. And remember being Natural doesn't mean you can not have fun with your hair...so be a FUN NATURAL and be you!

As always I can not leave without posting a few pictures so here you guys go:

Natural Hair Update

Day 2 twist-out, retwisted at night with Olive Oil Hair Lotion

Ok guys I am finally back with another small update about my #naturalhair regimen. Not to much has changed, my staple/go-to products are still the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In conditioner, and my Tresemme Naturals shampoo and conditioner. But I have added the Shea Moisture Rich Smoothie styling creme. I love it because it really helps define my twist-outs and does not cause any frizz.

I have even mastered the process of making my twist-out last for 7 days! From watching some #naturalhair gurus on YouTube I have learned different things I can do at night to help maintain my twist to make it last longer. I have learned to listen to my "hair" and know what my hair needs in order to thrive. In the pictures above and below you will be seeing Day 1, Day 2 and Day 6 hair.

Day 1 Hair Twist-Out Side Puff

Decided to do a side puff b/c my hair was not fully dry and I had a major frizz. LOL
